Drawn to the Word Lent
A Lenten Worship experience in the Word like no other.
As Peter Steinke writes, we seem to be “living nowhere between two somewheres,” and this has been called “the liminal experience,” the “neutral zone,” and the “transition space.” Steinke calls it “uproar.”
This is also true in the Church. There is so much “noise” these days with people seeking to have their voices heard in the midst of chaos.
Will the voice of the Church and its Gospel message be heard again? Will anyone care to listen?
I feel your burden.
I know these challenges first-hand in ministry. You have little time to be creative. You want to prepare worship that engages. You want to teach Bible classes, stay connected with the sick and homebound, welcome new members, teach Confirmation, attend meetings, manage your staff well, be there 24/7 for crisis calls, maintain your personal devotional and prayer life, and faithfully be for your family. You have little time and energy left and are spread so thin. This doesn’t feel good. “Just getting by” has a high price to be paid. Something has to give.
It’s as if we are living in the time of the Old Testament prophets. The Church is being called to proclaim God’s mercy now more than ever, even when the culture says otherwise.
But what shall it say? How shall it say it?
Skepticism, personal experience, and “show me and I will understand” are primary modes of operation of our people in this so-called “postmodern age.” So then, how can the message of the Gospel bring meaning to meaninglessness, confidence in the midst of skepticism, and truth where individualism and personal experience reign?
I am here to help.
What if you had congregation-tested and pastor-tested resources that would carry you and your people through the Season of Lent in 2022 while deeply engaging the meaning of the Gospel with their modern-day lives? A resource that does not require hours of additional preparation time, but allows you to lead, teach and preach from your strengths while freeing up your time? This is what I have created for you.
These Drawn to the Word video resources for worship have been proven to draw even skeptics into the Gospel stories with a renewed level of curiosity. Congregations and their staffs are energized around God’s Word. Generations of all ages are engaged. All of this happens while freeing up your time as a leader so you can enjoy your work, your people, your studies, and have time for your family in what is usually the busiest time of the year.
I have produced five NEW Drawn to the Word Videos featuring The Miracles of Jesus for the five weeks of Lent. These will free up your time, will complete your Lenten planning and messages easily and thoroughly, and will bring meaning into meaningless with God’s Word made visual.
The video presentations are intended to be used as the sermon/message. You can add as little or as much as you prefer around the video messages. I want you to be healthy and vibrant as a leader in the Church so you can carry out your God-given calling to Word and Sacrament ministry.
This series of five video messages, each 12-14 minutes in length, feature the following Miracles of Jesus:
- Jesus Heals the Gerasene Demoniac (Mark 5:1-20)
- Jesus Raises Jairus’ Daughter & Heals the Woman with the Flow of Blood (Mark 5:21-43)
- Jesus Feeds the 5000 & the 4000 (Mark 6:30-44 & Mark 8:1-10)
- Jesus Heals a Man Born Blind (John 9:1-41)
- Jesus Raises Lazarus From The Dead (John 11:1-44)
Professionally recorded and produced with music, narration and sound effects. Designed to engage both in-person and/or on-line worshippers, youth and adult education, schools, care facilities, at-home viewing, and more. Your people will literally see the Bible stories come to life on canvas, and continuously transition from one aspect of the story to the next as I quickly work layer upon layer to “tell the story.”
