Watercolor Workshop – Painting the Winter Landscape, Feb. 4-5, 2027 – Hudson, WI

Paul Oman will be teaching a 2-day watercolor painting workshop on painting the winter landscape on Thursday-Friday, February 4-5 from 9:30a-2:30p both days. He will demonstrate at least one scene each day while providing time for participants to paint their own scenes. Emphasis will be given to painting the northern landscapes of Wisconsin and Minnesota, and in particular the addition of winter birch trees and their characteristic paper curls. All ability levels are welcome. Paul will demonstrate at an advanced level while simplifying the process through the process of seeing values, arranging your composition, and applying color theory in understandable terms.

Limit 10 participants. $190.

Workshop will be held in the new Carpenter Nature Center, Wisconsin Campus, 279 S Cove Rd, Hudson, Wisconsin. Bring your own lunch.

Painting supplies you will need to bring include: High quality watercolor paper such as Arches, Waterford, etc; watercolor paints – suggested colors are: Cadmium Yellow Light/Pale, Alizarin Crimson, Raw Sienna, Burnt Sienna, Raw Umber, Cerulean Blue, Cobalt Blue, French Ultramarine, Paynes Gray; brushes (1″ flat, 1/2″ flat, #4, #6 & #12 rounds or approximately these sizes, #1 or #2 script/liner/rigger brush); palette for your paints; general purpose masking tape; a board on which to tape down your paper such as a 1/4″ thickness piece of plywood, tile board, or gator board; #2 pencil; kneadable eraser; container for water; hair dryer; paper towels; your own reference photos of winter scenes that are of interest to you.
